Just when you thought a gospel-inspired ballad about a one night stand couldn’t get any more emotional, Sam Smith’s soulful “Stay With” receives a belting overhaul by Cole Plante.
While at the the beginning Smith’s verses and chorus remain in tact atop pinging synths, by the end Smith’s vocals are dissected and the moody production sounds like it could’ve easily been a b-side on Tegan & Sara’s recent album.
This kind of of snyth pop record makes everything else feel inadequate.
